ADULT PROTECTIVE SERVICES (APS) | CHELP
Investigates allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of older adults and the disabled living in a domestic (non-institutional) setting. Appointed by the Illinois Department on Aging to investigate allegations of physical and emotional abuse, financial exploitation, confinement/neglect, deprivation of food or medication, sexual abuse, and self-neglect. This program offers 24-hour intakes by phone at the local number. A caseworker will make a home visit to investigate any allegations of abuse and assist the victim. Interventions will be offered to the victim and referrals made to the appropriate organizations. Interventions can include but are not limited to in-home services, legal, medical, relocation, and counseling.
