- Advocates for residents who live in licensed, long-term care facilities such as nursing homes, shelter care, assisted living, supportive living, and group homes. - An ombudsman visits facilities regularly to investigate and resolve complaints, provides individual consultations with residents and family members, and informs residents about resident's rights. - An ombudsman can help in situations regarding violation of resident's rights, physical, verbal, or mental abuse, inadequate or poor quality care, accidents or improper handling, involuntary or improper discharge from facility, building safety issues, end of life issues, and more.
