Human Services - Hanover Township - Astor Avenue Community Center
Hanover Township's Department of Human Services offers programs and services to improve the quality of life of Hanover Township residents experiencing hardships. The department's primary function is to provide financial assistance to qualifying residents through General and Emergency Assistance. The Human Services Department also oversees the Township's Food Pantry, which is available to the Township residents six days per week. Department staff are also Accredited Veterans Service Officers who are able to assist Township Veterans and their families in applying for qualifying benefits from state and federal agencies. Employment Services, such as offering assistance for interview skills, resume writing, and job searches, are also available through the department.

Eligibility
General Assistance: Available to any Hanover Township resident age 18+. The General Assistance Program is primarily for those adults without minor children, without adequate income, and ineligible for any other monetary form of assistance.Emergency Assistance: Available to township residents whose income falls within 200% of the federal poverty level.Food Pantry: Residents can access the food pantry once per week.LIHEAP: Please call for more information regarding eligibility.Weatherization: Participants must reside in Cook County and be at 150% of the poverty level. Special emphasis is given to families with children under the age of five, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.
