Application process
1. Contact 211 Metro Chicago by calling 2-1-1.2. Request transportation support from your Resource Navigator and complete the brief eligibility screening. 3. The Resource Navigator can support seniors with downloading the Lyft app, adding the $25 code to their account, and helping them request a ride.4. Caregivers may assist seniors with using the Lyft app and redeeming the $25 code, and may also join them on any ride.

United Way of Metro Chicago and 211 Metro Chicago are partnering with the City of Chicago and Lyft to provide rides to senior residents affected by recent grocery store closures and other food access challenges. 211 Metro Chicago will distribute 1,000 Lyft codes, each worth $25, to assist eligible seniors with trips to the grocery store and other transportation needs. Eligible residents may call up to 2 times to receive 2 $25 codes, for a total value of $50. This program will run until September 30, 2026, or until funds are depleted, whichever comes first.
