VOCATIONAL SERVICES | SOUTHERN ILLINOIS CENTER FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING
Provides vocational services to help people with disabilities find and keep jobs for which they are qualified. Job Development and Placement - With a consumer's skills and preferences in mind, staff and consumers negotiate with potential employers to secure job opportunities in areas where the consumer is likely to be most successful. With each match, both the employer and their new employee continue to receive supportive services to maximize the benefits each contributes to each other. On-The-Job Training - Help individuals who have limited or no work previous work experience acquire marketable job and transition skills. Short-term training is provided in actual work settings in order to provide a realistic work experience. Supported Employment Services - Job-specific training and support, both on and off the job, is provided to assist consumers in developing the specific skills needed to successfully maintain the job of their choice. Services are gradually withdrawn to allow the greatest level of independence.
