Developmental Training Services - Grand Prairie Services - ACCESS Department

To be enrolled in the Developmental Training Program an individual must be eighteen years of age or older with a primary diagnosis of Developmental Disability. Placement must be approved by the Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Developmental Disabilities and a valid Release of Information must be provided by the appropriate agencies. There is no minimum level of skill development required for admission to the Developmental Training Program.

Grand Prairie Services (GPS) Developmental Training Services provides services with a holistic approach to enhance and promote independence in the community, personal, and interpersonal relationships and improve the quality of life for persons with developmental disabilities.The Developmental Training Program is designed to provide individual living skills training, social skills training, physical therapy, and nursing to individuals with developmental disabilities in order to maximize independence and integration into the community.

The organization began in 1950 as a counseling agency in Park Forest, and then merged in 1956 with social service groups representing Park Forest, Chicago Heights, Homewood and Harvey.
