West Town Academy

West Town Academy (WTA) is an alternative high school for students who are not enrolled in a traditional high school or GED program, and who want to take the important step of returning to school, earning their diploma, and taking control of their future. West Town Academy's mission is to educate and support students so they can be successful in the classroom and in life, while building a positive future for themselves and their community.

Application process

West Town Academy enrolls students throughout the entire school year and over the summer. WTA hosts multiple, two-week prospective enrollee pre-orientation sessions throughout the whole year. These pre-orientation periods also give WTA program staff an opportunity to meet with prospective students to determine eligibility, educational needs, and barriers to success.

Eligibility

Chicago residents, 17-21 years of age, have dropped out of Chicago Public Schools, have earned at least four high-school credits, and complete required paperwork.
