General Property Tax Information | LAKE COUNTY CHIEF COUNTY ASSESSMENT OFFICE - Veterans Property Tax Assistance
Offers the following tax exemptions to veterans: Disabled Veterans Exemption: Veteran, veteran's spouse, or unmarried surviving spouse is exempt from property taxes. Offers up to $100,000 of the equalized assessed value of a home owned. Returning Veterans Exemption: Lowers the equalized assessed value of the residence by $5,000 for two consecutive tax years. Includes the tax year and the following year that the veteran returns from active duty. Must owned the home on Jan.1st of the tax year. Standard Exemption for Veterans with Disabilities: Provides a reduction in assessed value of residence occupied by a veteran with a disability, or the veteran's surviving spouse.
