- Honorably Discharged Military Veterans and their families who reside in Madison County, Illinois - Emergency Veterans' Assistance is not designed to be an ongoing financial supportive program over any considerable time. It is to provide the bare necessities of life for short-term emergency assistance - Emergency Veterans' Assistance does NOT include school breaks. Students are not eligible unless needs arise due to an emergency, such as a natural disaster. Students should contact their college or university Financial Aid Department with regard to school breaks between semesters/quarters.

- True certified copy of DD-214 (discharge papers from the military with last discharge of Honorable) - Picture ID, such as Driver's License or Illinois State ID card, showing proof of residence in Madison County, Illinois - Current household income statements - Current utility bills - Current shut-off/disconnect notices (if applicable) - Valid mortgage or lease/rental agreement - Eviction or foreclosure notice (if applicable) - Current savings and/or checking account statements - Additional documentation (marriage certificate, divorce certificates, birth certificate, death certificate, etc.) may be needed when filing for Emergency Veterans' Assistance
