Gage Park Latinx Council's (GPLXC) Mercadito is Gage Park's only community-run food pantry that operates independently to distribute culturally reflective food in Gage Park. Mercadito started in 2020 as a mutual aid response to the Covid-19 Pandemic and has grown to be a life-saving community resource feeding over 500 families fresh, healthy, culturally reflective food monthly.

Gage Park Latinx Council is a Queer, DACA, Latinx-led grassroots organization that runs two Cultural Centers in Gage Park, a neighborhood located on the Southwest side of Chicago. GPLXC organizes programs, spaces, and initiatives holistically, through art, popular education, and direct actions grounded in social justice, mutual aid, and abolition.
