Section 8 Housing: Provides assistance for low-income families in the private rental market through a Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) contract. Voucher holders select a unit from the private rental market within Macon County. Program participants normally pay no more than 30% of their gross income for rent. The Authority subsidizes the balance of the rent to the landlord. DHA administers approximately 1,240 vouchers.
