Adult/Child Mentoring Programs | Perry County Community Task Force

The CHAMPS (Communities Helping Adolescents Mature Positively & Successfully) Mentoring Program is for at-risk, school-age youth (grades K-12), in Perry County. This program allows adult volunteers, who have successfully completed a background check and mentor training, to offer support and guidance to at-risk youth on a weekly basis. During this time the volunteers are encouraged to help build the youth�s self-esteem, and help them make educated decisions about their future while offering healthy, fun interaction between the youth and mentor.

Mon-Fri - 3:00pm to 4:00pm during the school year and summer service project and day at the park.

Application process

Kids are referred by anyone; schools, counselors, social service agencies, juvenile officers and/or parents. Once a referral is made, permission is obtained from parents, then a checklist of needs is completed by referring agency and parents.
