GRANT PER DIEM BRIDGE TRANSITIONAL PROGRAM (GPD) FOR VETERANS | SALVATION ARMY OF BLOOMINGTON

Open to those who have served on active duty or who have been activated by presidential order (if a reservist); Prior to entry into the GPD program, veterans must accept a housing intervention such as: - SSVF (Supportive Services for Veteran Families) - HUD-VASH - Subsidized housing - Has a social worker representing them in negotiating with landlords on their behalf; Veterans are only allowed 3 GPD stays in a lifetime; Neither site is able to house sex offenders; Ineligible if discharged due to General Court Martial or if discharged dishonorably
Must have documentation of active duty military status and proof of non-dishonorable discharge

Description

Temporary housing for veterans for up to 90 days while they find and secure permanent housing. Can currently house 11 male veterans in Lincoln and 9 male or female veterans in Bloomington. Limited accommodations possible for families.

While in the GPD program, veterans will receive several services, housing intervention, case management, life skills training, access to either prepared meals or food pantry items, transportation, and assistance with applying for VA and Social Security benefits.
