SUPPORTIVE LIVING | PIONEER CENTER FOR HUMAN SERVICES

Enables an adult to live in his or her own apartment with support and assistance from the Pioneer Center team. Staff help individuals build the skills they need to live independently, such as budgeting, grocery shopping, and housekeeping. The team also provides psycho-social support, helping each participant to cope with daily stresses. Pioneer Center’s Community Homes (or Group Homes) provide a family living environment, where adults share a home in the community with up to seven peers, under the supervision of staff. The residents share in all aspects of running a Pioneer Center group home, such as cooking, cleaning, and grocery shopping. Pioneer Center has eight intellectual and developmental disability community homes nestled in neighborhoods throughout McHenry County.
