General Assistance
New Trier Township General Assistance (GA) is a public assistance program mandated by state law for qualified individuals with demonstrated financial needs. GA may be able to provide monthly payments to help individuals meet basic needs. An applicant must be a resident of New Trier Township, age 18 or older, and a United States citizen or qualified immigrant. In addition, an applicant must meet all financial and non-financial eligibility requirements. Individuals receiving SSI are ineligible for General Assistance.

Established in 1850, New Trier Township government serves more than 60,000 residents in the villages of Glencoe, Kenilworth, Wilmette and Winnetka, plus portions of Glenview and Northfield east of Harms Road and Northfield Road.
