Eligibility

-Enrolled in either Chicago Vocational Career Academy or Percy Julian High School-8th grade completers-Current high schoolers - 9th, 10th & 11th grades-STRONG desire to attend college and willing to take college prep classes-Have a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale-Meet federal income guidelines-First-generation college-bound-A United States citizen or permanent resident-Complete the Upward Bound application process

BUFI facilitates a free, federally funded educational program that gives high school students from low-income families the opportunity to increase higher education awareness and their precollege performance. This includes in-state and out of state college visits, tutoring, college and career counseling, financial planning workshops, and SAT/ACT prep.This program also operates a 6 week summer academy that covers things like cultural trips, tutoring, community service, on campus living, and work-study experiences.
