Scholarships | Burns Recovered

Burns Recovered offers two different scholarships: 1) Jim Neff Passionship - To provide scholarships for Midwest Children’s Burn Camp participants who have a specific hobby or passion that they enjoy participating in and would like to take a class to continue that interest. Examples of this may include cooking or dance classes, a creative writing course, a basketball camp, guitar lessons, or anything the camper would like to pursue that makes them happy. This scholarship is named after Jim Neff, long-time counselor and dedicated volunteer of Midwest Children’s Burn Camp. 2) College/Trade Scholarship - available to help burn survivors to pursue education after high school or need to be retrained as a result of their burn injuries. Funding is given directly to school/training for tuition and or school supplies.

1) Jim Neff Passionship - application form required, one letter of recommendation from a teacher or youth advisor addressing why do you deserve a scholarship 2) College/Trade School Scholarship - Complete the BRSG Scholarship Application Form if going on to College or a Trade School; Two (2) letters of recommendation from a teacher, counselor or youth advisor addressing the question “Why you are deserving of a scholarship”, a photo appropriate for publication on a website, newsletter, etc, a one page written essay by the the applicant describing their educational goals, how will they accomplish their goals and who in their life is the most supportive of them continuing their education

Eligibility

- Burn survivors, teens and adults who have an affiliation with the Burns Recovered - Has attended Midwest Children's Burn Camp as a child or young adult, if the burn survivor is of high school age or younger - Has been recommended for consideration by someone affiliated with Burns Recovered Specific to College/Trade School Scholarship: must be accepted to an accredited institution of the following: two year college (Jr. College), four year college (University), trade school or other training program approved by the Burns Recovered Board of Directors, A minimum GPA of 2.0 must be maintained for the entire term the scholarship is awarded, usually one-year

The mission of Burns Recovered is to help burn survivors across the Midwest live life without limitations, fear, or insecurity. We fulfill our mission by provides support for burn survivors and their families, as well as community outreach to increase burn awareness and prevent burn injuries. Services include Scholarships, Fire Prevention Information, Prosthetic devices, Wigs, Medical Equipment/Supplies, Incidental Medical Expense Assistance, Disability Awareness Programs, Therapeutic Camps and Health/Disability Related Support Groups.
