Child/Adolescent Crisis Stabilization Units | DuPage County Health Department - Linda A. Kurzawa Community Center

The Illinois state Screening, Assessment and Support Services (SASS) program for children and adolescents. The DuPage County Health Department at this location serves as the Crisis and Referral Entry Service (CARES). Following assessment, the child and family will be connected to ongoing behavioral health and other support services.

Application process

(1) Call the CARES line at 800-345-9049. (2) Caller will be asked for demographic information on the youth, as well as information on the current mental health crisis. (3) SASS will arrive at the location of the crisis within 90 minutes to carry out a mobile crisis screening.

Eligibility

Youth 20 years of age and under with Medicaid or Medicaid MCO; Youth 17 years of age and under with no funding; The youth must be having a mental health crisis and need an evaluation to find out what kind of care they need
