Eligibility
Missouri Blind Pension - 18 years old or older - US Citizen or eligible non-citizen - Does not own property worth more than $20,000 - Does not have a sighted spouse who provides support - Is determined to be totally blind as defined by law (up to 5/200 or visual field of less than 5 degrees) - Is of good moral character - Must be ineligible for Supplemental Aid to the Blind - Is willing to receive medical treatment or operation to cure blindness if available, unless 75 years or older - Is not a resident of a public, private or endowed institution except a public medical institution - Is ineligible to receive federal Supplemental Security Income benefits Missouri Supplemental Aid to the Blind (SAB) - 18 years old or older - US Citizen or eligible non-citizen - Does not own personal property worth more than $20,000 - Does not have parents, nor a sighted spouse who can provide support - Is determined to be totally blind as defined by law (up to 5/200 or visual field of less than 5 degrees) - Is not a resident of a public, private or endowed institution except a public medical institution - Is in need of assistance due to lack of sufficient income to meet basic needs - Must apply for Supplemental Security Income
