Family's Helping Hand is a non profit that operates out of the Family Resource Center to assist families and bridge gaps that will directly lead to better outcomes for families. Some of the resources Family’s Helping Hand can provide are a mini food pantry including formula/baby food, clothes closet, and household and hygiene supplies. Volunteer opportunities are available. This is a participating TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) food pantry. Enrollment into TEFAP is confidential and requires proof of address and identification. Individuals participating in the FoodShare, School Nutrition Program, WIC, or Senior Meals programs may participate in TEFAP without impacting their ability to qualify for those programs.

Foster Families in the Four-County Area (Lyon, Sioux, O'Brien, and Osceola) will receive an initial $20 free (per child). The families will also receive 50% off of any additional items during their initial visit to the ATLAS: Lost, But Found Thrift Store.

-- The Foster Closet is only available to children who are currently in foster care, relative placement, or other approved placement by the Department of Human Services and those who have been adopted from Foster Care. Children must be between the ages of newborn and 18.

-- All documentation must be provided to ATLAS management for the "Foster Closet" program to apply. ATLAS staff will create a folder with the information, which will be specific to each enrolled family.

-- All shopping experiences will be set up, by appointment only, with ATLAS of Lyon County management staff. This will prevent any confusion on the applicability of the "Foster Closet" program.

-- Any additional dates or discounts will be determined on a case-by-case basis, with the best interest of the foster family taken into consideration.

-- ATLAS understands that some families may experience a barrier of finding the time to shop with us. ATLAS management may be able to provide a "personal shopper" experience. Sizes & desired items would need to be known in order for this to occur. Also, ATLAS will require an advance notice of the pick-up time & date, which would have to be agreed upon by both parties due to scheduling conflicts that ATLAS may have. If this is a families initial visit, the verification procedures and information would still need to be verified prior to acceptance into the personal shopper program.

-- Items such as hygiene supplies, food, and blankets (among other necessity items) maybe provided, free of charge, depending on the availability of the items. ATLAS of Lyon County cannot guarantee that these items are always available.
