The local homeless education liaison works with homeless children to ensure:
- Immediate school enrollment (at either the child's school of origin or current attendance area where child is currently eligible).
- Remain enrolled in selected school as long as homelessness ensues or, if the student becomes permanently housed, until the end of the academic year.
- Priority in certain preschool programs.
- Participate in support programs and other school related activities.
- Obtain information regarding fee waivers, free uniforms, and low-cost medical referrals.
- Transportation services.

Homeless School Transition Programs
- Partnership between Greyhound Lines, Inc. and the National Runaway Safeline that provides crisis intervention with the goal of reuniting runaway youth, ages 12-21 years old, with their parent/legal guardian, or when appropriate, an Alternative Living Arrangement (ALA).
- Parents and guardians may be eligible to obtain a round-trip ticket to travel to the youth's location to accompany the youth home.
