Farmworker and Landscaper Advocacy Project (FLAP) relies on a network of more than 225 organizations and qualified attorneys to handle legal cases in Illinois. This network of attorneys and organizations allows FLAP to provide low-income workers who have suffered damages without receiving any compensation with reliable legal assistance. FLAP gives information to low-income workers and makes referrals to other organizations and skilled litigation attorneys with extensive experience in areas including but not limited to: employment, personal injury, consumer, nursing home abuse and neglect, medical malpractice, education, housing, wrongful death, birth injury, product liability, car, trucking, bus, and aviation accidents, premises liability, Federal Torts Claims Act, Assisted Living Negligence, home health care abuse and neglect, DUI, Social Security Disability, family law, Immigration, Breach of Contracts, medical malpractice and workers compensation among others.
The Housing Law Practice at North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic (NSLAC) works with clients to help them regain stability in their lives in the face of housing insecurity. We know that a lack of secure housing can pose a severe threat to the well-being of renters and their families.

Offers an online legal resource specifically for military families. The site provides a directory of programs that can help find legal services and representation in or around the current community the military family lives in.

The Illinois Department of Insurance accepts consumer complaints relating to insurance via their online portal.
Administration of various business/merchant/commercial permits and licenses, including food vending applications, liquor licenses, news rack permits, raffle permits, taxi licenses, transient/merchant/itinerant vendor permits, and others.
Evanston Public Library partners with Illinois Legal Aid Online (ILAO) as a Legal Self-Help Center. Now, patrons can make a free, online appointment with a legal self-help navigator. Referral service for claimants refers callers to private attorneys in their area who handle Social Security disability claims.

The Office of the City Clerk is responsible for the issuance of official City of Chicago business licenses. Refers persons to private practicing attorneys in their area for the type of legal problem they have. Attorneys are not legal aid, low income, or pro bono. The free referral entitles the caller to a 30-minute consultation either on the phone or in the attorney's office for a fee of no more than $25, with no obligation. After the consultation, the attorney will charge the client regular fees - it is up to the client to discuss fees with the attorney.

The focus of a Bureau's activities is on marketplace concerns, such as honest advertising and selling practices. Most BBB services are provided without charge to the public, including: 1) Provides information about a company, particularly whether or not there are unanswered or unsettled complaints, or other problems. 2) Provides information about charities and other organizations that are seeking donations. 3) Helps resolve a buyer/seller complaint against a company, including mediation and arbitration services in many instances. 4) Disseminates accurate consumer information so wise buying decisions can be made.
