Free legal services are available to people who qualify based on their income, live in the DuPage County area, or have a case in DuPage County. These services require a referral from another legal aid provider. They focus on family issues like divorce, parental responsibilities, parenting time, child support and maintenance defense, protection orders for domestic violence, and guardianship cases.

University of Chicago - Arthur Kane Center for Clinical Legal Education provides a clinical program of free legal assistance to clients with little or no income.
Loyola University - Community Law Center Clinic's students represent clients from the initial interview through courtroom appearances, if necessary. Clinical faculty ensures the clients are well served and that students are gaining confidence in their own legal abilities. Assistance for disabled adults must be 18 years or older.
Circuit Court of Cook County - Guardianship Assistance Desk for Minors provides free assistance in preparing court documents related to the application for guardianship of a minor. Guardianship is always subject to a court order and parents have the right to ask the court to get the child back.
Cook County Legal Aid for Housing and Debt (CCLAHD) provides a free hotline for Cook County residents to contact with questions about issues of housing and debt, regardless of income, language, or immigration status. This includes legal advice for tenants, landlords, and homeowners.

St. Louis Bankruptcy Pro Se Assistance Program (PSAP) is a free legal clinic, located at the Thomas F. Eagleton U.S. Courthouse in St. Louis, designed to help individuals without an attorney to answer legal questions about bankruptcy, including how bankruptcy may be used to help prevent foreclosure. The PSAP provides debtors with an opportunity to meet with a volunteer private attorney for a free 30-minute consultation.
Civil and criminal legal counseling is provided to survivors of human sex trafficking through a partner law firm.

The Allamakee County Bar Association offers consultation service that provides information to the general public to determine whether an attorney is needed for their particular problem. Attorneys meet with individuals free of charge and provide referrals to legal services, a private attorney, or law enforcement. Attorneys offer advice on family law (i.e. divorce), landlord-tenant issues, lawsuits and small claims, financial problems, consumer law, traffic and criminal violations, employment, public benefits, guardianships of children, restraining orders between adults and adults and children and other areas. The Legal Clinic is open on an as needed basis and is typically open every other Mondays; interested parties must first contact the Clerk of Courts office to sign up for clinic. NOTE: Senior Citizen Legal Services is provided through Northland Area Agency on Aging.

Contracts with Nebraska Legal Aid to provide legal assistance.

Offers to match the caller's legal problem with available resources, such as advice, extended representation, or referral. For most low-income applicants. Callers are screened for eligibility, and a determination is made whether eligible callers have a legal problem that falls within the priorities. If the caller's legal problem is eligible for review for extended services, the caller is referred to one of our five regional offices. If the callers are not eligible for referral to a regional office, attorneys provide the caller with immediate advice or quick access to other information and resources.
