Trained legal advocates are available to assist survivors of domestic violence in obtaining orders of protection against their abuser. Advocates offer support and assistance on domestic related trials.

Medical advocates respond to the hospital when a patient is victim of sexual assault to provide emotional support, clothing, and information regarding hospital procedures. Advocates help educate the victim about their options for hospital procedures and pressing charges. The advocate serves as a liaison between the victim, the police, and ER personnel. Advocates and staff respond to hospital calls 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Legal advocates provide guidance and support for victims of sexual assault and abuse as they go through the legal system. As a victim of a violent crime in Illinois, they are entitled to advocacy services. The legal advocate also works closely with the State's Attorney's Office and is available to help with questions relating to court and provide emotional support.

Legal Advocacy Services Include:

- Attending all court appearances of the defendant

- Updating the victim on court procedures

- Accompanying the victim to court

- Obtaining a Civil No Contact Order (CNCO)

- Answer questions relating to legal procedures

- Assist victims with Crime Victim Compensation

- Assist victims with the Victim's Economic Security and Safety Act

- Assist victims with the Safe Home Act

Services include orders of protection and understanding court procedures, services are available in-person and online. Medical advocacy is available for participant emergencies or to address ongoing health concerns. Services are available on an individual basis as well as in group settings with other survivors.

Provides comprehensive services for victims of domestic violence. Services include shelters for those affected by domestic violence and outreach services. Shelter location is confidential and not available to the general public. Outreach Services include counseling, court assistance, and public education and presentations. Services also include support groups for victims and survivors.

Crisis Line is answered by a trained domestic violence advocate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Victims of domestic violence or their friends and family members can receive counseling, information, and education about domestic abuse issues.

Provides free and confidential services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, child abuse, and all other forms of abuse. Services include counseling, legal advocacy and medical advocacy. Assists with legal filings, such as Orders of Protection and Stalking No Contact Orders, and provides guidance in forming safety plans. Also offers temporary emergency safe shelter and transportation when needed.

Offers youth and adult education programs with age-appropriate presentations on consent, body autonomy, sexual harassment, and bullying.

Provides legal help for individuals experiencing domestic violence.

Services include:

- Assistance with filing Orders of Protection
- Court advocacy
- Information and support to navigate the legal system
- Assistance with gaining temporary custody of minor children

Provides legal representation to survivors of abuse in order of protection matters in Winnebago County, Illinois. The NIU Civil Justice Clinic also drafts basic estate planning documents such as a Last Will and Testament, Power of Attorney for Property, and Power of Attorney for Healthcare for clients who are elderly, living with disabilities, or survivors of abuse.

Provides advocacy, information, and support to the victims of domestic violence throughout both civil and criminal court proceedings. Court advocates assist clients in completing orders of protection and understanding their legal rights regarding domestic violence, and also advocates for them before the presiding judges. Program also provides community referrals and advocacy for clients.

Domestic violence is any systematic behavior - whether physical, verbal, emotional, or sexual - used to gain power and control over another person. KAN-WIN's Legal Advocacy Program is designed to empower immigrant survivors to exercise their rights and options. Tasks like filing for protection orders, going to court, and finding an attorney are available. KAN-WIN provides direct crisis intervention and ongoing legal advocacy services.
