Provides basic education to adults to become self-sufficient in reading and writing.
Provides adult basic education classes and preparation for the high school equivalency tests.
Offers classes in basic skills as well as GED test preparation. Free day and evening classes available. Students work at their own pace; continuous enrollment.
At the Center, adult education and literacy classes are provided through East Central College.
GED, English as a Second Language, Literacy: Educational courses for GED, ESL, Literacy and Introductory Personal Computer Classes for non-completers of secondary school.
All colleges throughout the IECC district offer tuition-free classes to help prepare students for the GED exam. Day and evening classes are typically offered in 8- or 16-week formats. The GED/Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes review math, reading, writing, science, social studies, and the Constitution, which are all covered on the exam.

Designed for non-traditional students to achieve their High School Equivalency certificate and beyond. Assists students by connecting with local agencies and services, creating a transition plan for college, training or career readiness, and bridging the gap between student and services within the workforce area. During a student’s time in the program, they will learn basic skills for English, Language Arts, Math, and workplace skills, as well as, become prepared to take the High School Equivalency Exam.

National Latino Education Institute (NLEI) provides students 18 years of age and older with solid educational foundational skills on which to build. The various programs offer classes that prepare students to acquire and enhance their basic academic skills. Pathways in Education (PIE) - Brighton Park provides secondary-level classes in several formats, including small group instruction, independent study, and online learning in all levels of mathematics, English language arts, and science. The school operates year-round so that students can enroll at any time. The school also offers college application assistance and visiting assistance to its students.
Fourth Presbyterian Church provides instruction on fundamental learning skills (ex. reading, writing, and mathematics) to adults with interrupted or limited education, or provides instruction to adults in a field of interest outside the formal education system.

Provides adult tutoring in basic reading, English as a Second Language (ESL), both one-on-one and in a small group. Citizenship and ESL Conversation Groups. Free drop-in groups. Family Literacy Program for parents and their children and workplace literacy for job-specific skills.
