The Adult Learning Resource Center (ALRC) has provided expert professional development for adult educators since the 1970s. The ALRC utilizes content expertise and current research to develop and deliver high-quality professional development and technical assistance to individuals, programs, and state networks. These services are available to educators through online courses, in-person training, and other activities.
Literacy Chicago offers a broad range of programs including Basic Literacy, GED preparation, English as a Second Language, Workforce Development, Citizenship classes, Digital Literacy, and numerous bridge programs.

Spanish literacy program that helps native Spanish speakers learn to read and write for the time as adults.
Howard Area Community Center's Adult Education program assists adult learners in improving their reading, writing, mathematics, English language acquisition, digital literacy, and other skills. They aim to help students obtain the literacy skills needed to successfully navigate the workforce, training programs, and post-secondary education, leading to self-sufficiency and productive lives.

United For Better Living Inc. has tutors available Monday through Wednesday to partner with and instruct individuals, preparing them to pass seven pre-tests and the GED examination.

Oakton College offers free adult literacy programs.
Offers in-home parenting support for low-income families with children under three years old. Provides information and activities to support the child's emotional, language, physical, and social skills. Also offers in-person and virtual group meetings with other families.
Offers adults opportunities to improve basic education skills to transition to the workforce. Offers classes in-person and online via Zoom. Services include: - English as a Second Language (ESL) classes - Citizenship Preparation Classes - Adult Basic Education - GED testing and preparation - Digital Literacy and Keyboarding Skills - Career training
Free English Language tutoring in one-on-one and small group settings at a mutually convenient time and public library location for both volunteer tutors and students.
Provides children and their caregivers the opportunity to engage children to talk, play, read, do, and write supporting needed kindergarten readiness skills while at three participating laundromats.

Oakton College offers free adult literacy programs.
Assists any adult who has a desire to become a better reader by helping to master the skills of reading, writing, and vocabulary.
The Literacy Connection assists adult learners who are proficient in English, but may have difficulty identifying letters or words, reading a menu or sign, filling out a job application, or doing simple math, as well as those with limited English skills learn to read, write, speak and understand English, so that they can take a more active role in the society.
Trained education volunteers provide one-on-one tutoring to guests on a variety of subjects such as computer skills, reading, writing, math, GED preparation, and books club. The hour-long sessions take place prior to a meal. Currently, more than 30 guests participate in the program.

Metropolitan Asian Family Services (MAFS) provides state-funded adult literacy courses at three of their locations.
Adult education and family literacy classes are non-credit and provide a range of basic skill instruction, English as a Second Language, GED preparation, and in some cases, high school credit. Classes are informal and instruction is individualized. Classes may be held in a variety of facilities, including churches, industrial plants, schools, libraries, and housing projects.

FCO educates parents on strategies that can actively support their children's educational and personal development. Adult Education has always been one of Frida's main focuses. By offering adult education, they hope to empower the community so that it may keep progressing. They have various sites throughout the city that offer ESL, Computer literacy, and STEAM classes for adults in the community and no cost.
Timothy Community Corporation's (TCC) Leading With Literacy program has male volunteers present in the school by reading to primary-grade children (Pre-K-3) on a weekly basis.

Works with adults and families to meet literacy goals in reading, writing, math, English, and life skills. Adults receive free tutoring services in reading (newspapers, product labels, letters from school, doctor's instructions, street signs, recipes, etc.), writing (filling out job applications, completing forms), math (balancing bank accounts, counting money, measuring, understanding bills), building skills to prepare for a high school equivalency test (GED, TASC, HiSET).

Provides GED classes for parents with children birth through 3 or who are pregnant.

Provides a parenting class and a high level of child-care for children while the parent attends academic classes.

Visits the library together regularly and provides opportunities for parents and children to learn together.

Wraparound services include, transportation, Case Management, parent education, and home visits.
