Offers help with environmental concerns, including complaints about dumping, rodents, insects, ambient air quality, water contamination, and septic tank problems.

Cares for orphaned and injured wildlife. Provides hospital care for wild animals and then releases them back into the wild once they have recovered. If injured or orphaned animals are found, staff can help determine animal needs and guide callers through the necessary next steps to promote safety for the animal as well as the caller.

Conducts regulatory programs to help ensure safe food is served at local establishments, private on-site wastewater systems properly dispose sewage, and new and existing water wells provide safe drinking (potable) water. Also enforces local and state laws related to tanning and body art facilities. 

Provides environmental health services such as food sanitation and safety inspections, well/septic program and nuisance control (such as overgrown weeds, hazardous chemicals, etc).

Provides a resource center for education on sustainable practices including energy efficiency, solid waste issues, air quality, clean water, and climate issues. Programs at schools, civic group meetings, and special events throughout the community. The energy bright program is designed to help Bloomington-Normal Illinois residents and small businesses take charge of their energy use and expenses through low-cost energy audits. Services also include a community canopy free tree program which offers free sapling tree to residents of Bloomington-Normal's environmental justice areas.

Addresses nuisance complaints and complaints regarding solid waste, weeds, and junk cars.

Services include air pollution and noise monitoring, rodent and pest surveillance, radon and indoor air information (radon kits available for a small fee), and free well testing.

Issues permits and licensing for tanning beds, swimming pools, spas, septic systems, tattoo services, and wells.
