Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services through the local public health agencies in the state provides Tuberculosis control and prevention as well as case management and treatment of Tuberculosis Disease and Latent Tuberculosis Infection.
Control the occurrence of influenza by monitoring the incidence of the disease in the general population, identifying the level of influenza activity, determining the types of virus that are circulating, detecting changes in the influenza virus, investigating individual outbreaks, tracking the number of hospitalizations and flu-related deaths, evaluating prevention efforts and taking appropriate measures to prevent disease transmission. Follow-up is provided for all reported or suspected cases.
Surveillance of the occurrence of AIDS/HIV disease in the community, investigation of individual cases, and development of case histories and other interventions that will help to increase the medical establishment's understanding of the causes of the diseases and potential methods of prevention and cure. Identifies, investigates, and attempts to control disease outbreaks in the community. CUPHD Communicable Disease Investigator works with the state health department and local health care providers. Investigators conduct a confidential interview with persons diagnosed with an infectious disease that could lead to an outbreak. Interviews help confirm to the diagnosis, determine the source of infection, and limit the spread of the disease.

Offers to protect the health and welfare of residents through the identification of potential communicable disease problems and to control the spread of infectious disease within the county. Offers investigation and follow up on communicable diseases, and an immunization program.
