Jackson County Private Water System Testing & Permits samples residential private water wells for coliform and nitrates upon request of the property owner. The Department refers clients to private labs for more complex well testing. It also licenses water well drillers and require permits for the installation of portable water wells. Jackson County Private Sewage System Evaluation & Permits conducts an on-site evaluation of private sewage systems for homeowners who may be having problems with their system, or when required by a lending institution during a property transaction. If the evaluation results in the installation of a new sewage system, the new permit application fee will be waived. The Department also licenses private sewage system installers and permits the installation and modification of private sewage systems.
HUD-funded program that takes a comprehensive approach to housing-related hazards in a coordinated fashion. Staff visit the home, looking for environmental health and safety concerns related to mold, lead, allergens, asthma, carbon monoxide, radon, and the use and storage of cleaners, pesticides, and medications.
