Screening services are provided to area preschools and, upon request, to public and private schools for school age children. Hearing screening is also available for adults.

Provides equitable access and opportunities for economic success for underserved clients. Programs include job readiness, assisting with job placement and developing skills to aid in job retention, ELL, citizenship, computer skills, resume writing, networking, cultural transition support groups and peer discussions, effective parenting, education and coaching to enhance and promote financial literacy and long-term self-sufficiency, and other skills necessary to compete in the modern workplace.

The programs address the barriers impacting low income and refugee families and their ability to move along the self-sufficiency continuum. Barriers from employment discrimination, language barriers, poverty, family conflict, transportation, financial illiteracy, and much more. Programs and class offerings are designed to be flexible to fit individual needs, and include a "high touch" service model which is both culturally competent and language specific.

Eye Thrive serves low-income children by providing essential vision services. Guided by organizational values of transformational change, empowerment, compassion, equity and trust, Eye Thrive serves thousands of students every year. Through initial vision screenings Eye Thrive identifies students with possible vision impairments. The Mobile Vision Clinic team is then deployed to provide comprehensive eye exams that determine if corrective eyewear is needed. Students are provided with the glasses they need, a positive health care experience and, through our Electronic Medical Records system, the confidence to know that someone is monitoring their eye health year after year.

Offers eye exams at no cost and glasses to those in need. Adults can only receive assistance once every two years, children may only receive assistance once every year.

Offers a back-to-school health fair Saturday, August 5, 2023, from 9 am-12 pm. Services will be provided free of charge on a first-come, first-serve basis, no appointment needed.
Students of the West Des Moines school district will receive school and sports physicals, vision screenings, immunizations and assistance with pre-registration for West Des Moines schools.

Free services and activities also include haircuts, clothing, info on winter safety, info on English classes, police and fire department available, snacks and bottled water, activites and children's books available.

Participants will receive their results immediately after completing the screening. No additional information is required for the screenings. If a health problem is found, the client is referred to the nearest available health clinic.
