Village of Arlington Heights has two registered nurses who provide skilled nursing services, under physicians' orders, for residents in their homes. Health screening clinics for hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol, and TB are available during clinics located at the Village Hall and the Senior Center. The nurses manage the Village-wide influenza and COVID-19 vaccination program, provide vision and hearing screenings in parochial schools, teach CPR, and provide education to the community.

Screening services are provided to area preschools and, upon request, to public and private schools for school age children. Hearing screening is also available for adults.
Offers free blood pressure checks throughout the county regularly. With the cooperation of other medical agencies, diabetic screenings, hearing tests, glaucoma screenings, and flu shots are also offered. Cholesterol screenings are also available at scheduled times.

The Chicago Lighthouse provides comprehensive low-vision examinations to help provide information regarding specific eye conditions.
The Clinic provides dental and vision care for patients, through the help of volunteer doctors and professionals. Dental services include an oral exam, x-rays, teeth cleaning, basic restorative services (fillings) and extractions if necessary. The Vision clinic is open with limited availability.
Village of Hoffman Estates Health & Human Services provides a variety of health services to children in the community including vaccinations, vision & hearing screenings, and mobile dental care.
Center for Better Aging's (CBA) evidence-based program improves whole-person well-being, with an emphasis on avoiding and recovering from falls and loss of strength, or difficulties in the course of daily life. CBA's functional fitness program, wellness checks, and community events keep aging adults active, living independently, and enjoying life.

Provides care for medical eye conditions as well as routine eye exams at no cost. A prescription for glasses can often be given as part of the exam. Free eye glasses are not generally provided.

Provides a directory of Lions Clubs and would refer based on where inquirer lives for possible assistance with glasses and hearing aid needs. Accepts donations of used eyeglasses for third world projects. Also accepts used hearing aids. Eye screenings for children 6 months to 48 months.

PROJECTS include an Eye Bank and donor information.

Health screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, and vision.

Immunizations offered monthly during the winter months.

Nursing and physician assistance students from Union College provide foot care, including soaking feet and trimming toenails to non-diabetic adults. Individuals receive free socks (each month) and free shoes (every 6 months). Offered every semester from September-November and February-April.

The Adult Vision Clinic is located at MCSA to provide underserved adult Muscatine-area residents with access to eye care and vision correction.


Staffed by local volunteer optometrists and offers routine eye examinations and glasses as necessary.


A $10 co-pay is required from each patient, which covers the examination and glasses as needed. A client may be referred by MCSA, Muscatine County Community Services, the Department of Human Services (DHS), or Community Action when it is determined they are within 100% of poverty guidelines and do not qualify for other medical assistance programs.

Please call for more information. Patients needing further care (for pre-glaucoma, glaucoma, or other more serious conditions) will be referred to the Ophthalmology Department at the University of Iowa, which serves all Iowa residents, regardless of ability to pay.

Early childhood special education offers evaluations to families at no cost in the areas of infant and toddler assessment, developmental skills, speech and language, hearing and vision, and fine and gross motor skills.

Early development services coordination provides a central point of contact for families with children, birth to three years, with disabilities or developmental delays. A service coordinator is assigned to each family to ensure they get the help they need as they are linked with developmental evaluations through the schools, Nebraska Health and Human Services programs, health resources, parent-to-parent support, etc.

Services in the natural environment provided for children birth to age three in a location where the child normally is or where the child' parents would like him/her to be; staff work with parents as their coach, helping them to become their child's teacher.

Community based services for children ages three to five are provided in community preschools, child care centers, or wherever the child spends his/her day. A team approach is used to develop speech and language, expand vocabulary, and refine gross and fine motor skills as well as emphasizing socialization.
