Peer Advocates are volunteers over the age of 60 who are available to help other people, age 60 or older, with a variety of situations, concerns, problems, or questions. Services include:

HELP with questions or just someone to talk to.

Rent Reimbursement - The Rent Reimbursement program is through DHHS. PEER assists people with filling out Online or Paper form applications. This is a one time, per year program, not a monthly or emergency rental assistance program, for those who meet eligibility requirements.

SHIIP - Can help do drug plan, MA or supplemental comparisons. As well as educate New to Medicare enrollees with process and how to get enrolled in plans.

Provides trained SHIIP counselors to help understand Medicare coverage options to help make informed choices based upon health, budget or both, of the individual. Provides free assistance to walk individuals through the Medicare process, including:

  • Medicare Supplement Insurance
  • Medicaid covered services and eligibility
SHIIP is a free, confidential counseling program provided by the State of Iowa Insurance Division. (annual open enrollment period is October 15 through December 7).

Offers Medicare Information/Counseling: MO HealthNet provides medical services to individuals who meet eligibility requirements. The focus is to promote good health, to prevent illness and premature death, to correct or limit disability, to treat illness, and to provide rehabilitation to individuals with disabilities.

The purpose of the MO HealthNet program is to provide medical services to persons who meet certain eligibility requirements as determined by FSD. The goals of the MO HealthNet program are to promote good health, to prevent illness and premature death, to correct or limit disability, to treat illness, and to provide rehabilitation to persons with disabilities. Eligible persons receive a "MO HealthNet Identification Card" or a letter from the local FSD office. The Family Support Division (FSD) determines client eligibility for the MO HealthNet program: the MO HealthNet Division administers the MO HealthNet program including establishment of benefit coverage, rates, claims processing, and all other aspects of daily operations.

Assistance for those who have questions or need assistance with Medicare Part D (Prescription Drugs). Offers provider referrals for those who need Medicaid or Medicaid Extra Help.

Medicare Part D (Prescription Drugs) Open Enrollment helps clients navigate the prescription drug plan review process.

Open enrollment happens every year starting in mid October and continues through the first part of December.

Clients may contact a nearby center to assist. If nearby center is booked for appointments, AgeLinc can help with enrollment.

Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) is a free service offered to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. This service is intended to educate, advocate, and advise people to make informed healthcare benefit decisions. This is a free counseling service provided by the Illinois Department of Insurance.A SHIP counselor will meet with clients and their families individually to provide objective information about health insurance benefits based on Medicare or Medicaid beneficiaries.

PrimeCare Health Community Health Centers are Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) that believe that everyone deserves access to high-quality health care. At PrimeCare Health, no one will be denied services because of their insurance status or inability to pay. If you have insurance, they can help you understand it and use it. For patients who are uninsured or underinsured, they offer a sliding scale fee based on income and family size. If you are unsure if you qualify for the sliding fee discount scale, their Access and Enrollment Specialists can help. They can also answer questions about Medicare and Medicaid.
