Loans out a limited selection of medical equipment including walkers, canes, shower seats, wheelchairs, and transfer seats. Items may be loaned for up to 90 days.

Offers to lend medical health equipment to individuals in Whiteside County. Also accepts donated equipment. Types of equipment available include canes, crutches, walkers, hospital beds, wheelchairs, knee walkers, bedside commodes, toilet risers, shower/bath seats, bath transfer benches, bathtub rails, shower grab bars, 30" Reach/grab, icing machines, ankle and wrist weights, bed rails, toilet rails, and gait belts, surgical boots, sock aids and more.

Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP) loaning donated medical equipment.
Proviso Township provides medical equipment for loans whenever possible. Individuals may borrow equipment for up to 30 days and renew monthly. The Township also accepts donations of medical equipment in good condition.

Arthur C. Nielsen, Jr. Campus in Northfield operates a Lending Closet from which people can borrow durable medical equipment. The Lending Closet is particularly useful for older adults who are recovering at home after surgery or illness. Items can be borrowed for a period of three months. Extended borrowing periods can sometimes be accommodated, if inventory permits.

Offers medical equipment for rent and or purchase. It can be delivered to the home, or if necessary, delivered to the patient's hospital room or extended care facility. For convenience, patients or family members may pick up equipment.

- Oxygen Therapy - including concentrators, cylinders, oxygen-conserving devices, and specialized supplies.
- Respiratory Modalities - including pulse oximetry, suction machines, and heavy duty compressors.
- Pediatrics - including nebulizers, trach care, and phototherapy.
- Ventilators - including specialized supplies, clinical respiratory instruction and consultation, and tracheostomy supplies.
- Sleep Program - including BiPAP, CPAP, compliance studies, and specialized supplies.

In addition, Carol's Closet can help families with newborn baby clothes to size 6 children's clothes, diapers, new cribs and car seats, baby essentials, and household items including dishes, furniture and bedding. Carol's Closet also has a handicap accessible van and standing lift for loan with a donation. Carol's Closet accepts donations of good and has opportunities for people to volunteer.

Provides insulin syringes to individuals without insurance, Medicare or Medicaid.
Clinicians are available at all hours by phone to answer questions and dispatch someone to the bedside, if necessary. Medical equipment and medications are delivered to the home a well, and respite care provides up to 5 days of Medicare-certified inpatient care for a hospice patient so that family members can take a break from their caregiving duties to relax, unwind, recharge, travel, recover from an illness or attend other events.

Clients are able to rent and/or purchase medical equipment as needed.
Operates a durable medical equipment loan program free of charge (90-days) for wheelchairs, walkers, commodes, bath seats, etc. with the option of one renewal, available on a first-come, first served basis.

Provides a nutrition program that includes home-delivered and congregate meals that are prepared through the Meal Site located on the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska reservation. The congregate meals are served during the lunch hour Monday-Friday. Home-delivered meals are delivered to persons in poorer health. In order to receive home-delivered meals, seniors need to be present for congregate meals two times a week unless health ailments interfere.

Other services that are provided include information/referral, outreach, transportation, homemaker, chore, telephoning, and visiting. The caregiver program provides a temporary period of relief or rest for caregiver of a frail elder in the form of in home respite care, adult day care respite, or respite for an overnight stay on an intermittent, occasional, or emergency basis.

Offers a Lending Closet with medical equipment to be used on a loan basis.
