GA can provide monthly payments to help individuals meet basic needs. Applicants must meet certain financial and non-financial eligibility requirements and must supply his or her Social Security card, pay stubs (for the past 30 days), and bank statements. All applicants will be required to apply for Medicaid and SNAP benefits. Applicants will also be required to maintain current registration with the Illinois Job Service (IllinoisJobLink.com) and unemployment. Applicants who are applying for Social Security Disability will be required to show proof of application and a physician's letter supporting the disability claim.

Hanover Township's Department of Human Services offers programs and services to improve the quality of life of Hanover Township residents experiencing hardships. The department's primary function is to provide financial assistance to qualifying residents through General and Emergency Assistance. The Human Services Department also oversees the Township's Food Pantry, which is available to the Township residents six days per week. Department staff are also Accredited Veterans Service Officers who are able to assist Township Veterans and their families in applying for qualifying benefits from state and federal agencies. Employment Services, such as offering assistance for interview skills, resume writing, and job searches, are also available through the department.
