PAWS Chicago connects pet owners suffering from a financial, health, domestic, or other crisis and in need of a temporary home for their dog or cat with a foster family in the area to care for and protect the pet until they can reunite. While not guaranteed that all animals will be accepted into the program, they will make every effort to find a qualified temporary foster family in the area.

- Responders: Provides vital emergency sheltering assistance for animals displaced by natural disasters and rescued from other crises, such as puppy mills and hoarding situations.

Arranges temporary shelter for animals for pets of domestic abuse victims. Pets can be held for up to 60 days. All animals receive a medical exam and any medical care needed during the custody period.

Blessed Bonds provides temporary assistance to those who want to keep their animal companions but have trouble meeting their pets' daily needs. Offers temporary foster care when space is available and loan of cat playpens for cat owners who are able to keep their cats with them or with family members.

Pet Care Expense Assistance
Pet Assisted Therapy
Provides long-term and continuing care for pets of senior citizens who require a hospital stay, physical therapy, and/or assisted living. Also provided is long-term boarding for pets of active and deployed military personnel.
The long-term boarding allows the owners of boarded dogs to maintain ownership of their pets, giving them peace of mind that their pets will be well-cared for in a comfortable facility. The program is monthly donation-based, depending upon income and ability to pay. Can be named in a pet trust as the designated caregiver for a pet and can fulfill any wishes of the owner in terms of long-term care or any adoption option.

Cares for orphaned and injured wildlife. Provides hospital care for wild animals and then releases them back into the wild once they have recovered. Also offers educational programs both on and off site at schools, clubs, scout programs and community events.
Wildlife Allies are available to help with the removal process of wildlife from a caller's home or business. See website for more information.
If injured or orphaned animals are found, staff can help determine animal needs and guide callers through the necessary next steps to promote safety for the animal as well as the caller.
