Polish American Association's (PAA) Starting Point Substance Abuse Program is founded on the belief that abuse of psychoactive substances destroys the self, family, and community. The goal of Starting Point is to provide culturally specific outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment to Polish-speaking individuals who abuse alcohol or drugs or are chemically dependent. Outpatient groups are offered throughout the week in evening hours making this an excellent choice for those who work.

The Engagement Center offers a welcoming community where people living on the streets can grab a cup of coffee, find a safe place to rest, access food and other basic necessities, and, perhaps most importantly, experience the warm embrace of a community that treats them with the respect and dignity that all deserve. The Center also offers enrichment groups, a food pantry, various types of medical care, substance use counseling with harm reduction supplies (when the center is open), and on-site Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
