Carol's Closet can help veterans, seniors, and persons with disabilities with household items including furniture and bedding, hospital beds, walkers, wheelchairs (including motorized), shower chairs, commodes and adult hygiene items. In addition, Carol's Closet can help families with newborn baby clothes to size 6 children's clothes, diapers, new cribs and car seats, baby essentials, and household items including dishes, furniture and bedding. Carol's Closet also has a handicap accessible van and standing lift for loan with a donation. Carol's Closet accepts donations of good and has opportunities for people to volunteer.

Facilitates temporary homes for children of families in crisis, which gives parents an opportunity to resolve a temporary crisis while reducing risk of abuse, neglect, and isolation for children. Connects the family with a family friend, who offers a healthy relational support as the family navigates the situation. Also connects the family with a family coach, who can provide linkage to services in the community and set goals to reach a place of stability.

Marion County Health Department has a strong focus on enhanced surveillance in order to detect and respond to emerging threats, including influenza outbreaks, food borne illnesses, and biological terrorist events. This focus includes the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), which supports community efforts to utilize local medical and health volunteers during emergencies and at other times of community need.

Provides one-on-one emotional support to adult cancer patients and their caregivers. Each of CHN's 400+ volunteers is at least one year post-treatment, or successfully undergoing maintenance therapies. Offers encouragement through treatment, and hope that there is life after a cancer diagnosis. Volunteers represent more than 80 cancer types and speak 15 languages. TACT - Talking About Clinical Trials - The TACT program matches a person who is being offered a clinical trial for cancer with someone who has participated in a clinical trial. This provides the opportunity to ask and get answers to many of the questions only someone who's gone through the decision-making process can answer. Being matched with a TACT volunteer can help separate fact from fiction, myth, and misinformation.

Opportunities include, 24/7 Crisis Hotline Advocate, Events and Special Projects Advocate, and Front Desk Advocate. 24/7 Crisis Hotline Advocate responsibilities include: - Answering crisis calls. - Provides support, information, referrals, and empathy on calls. - Provides medical advocacy at the local hospitals. - Time commitment: 16 or 24-hour shifts (advocates typically serve 1-2 shifts a month). Events and Special Projects Advocate: - Assisting at agency events responsibilities include: - Booths at fairs. - Prep work for events. - Participating in committees and task forces. - In-office tasks. - Time commitment: periodically throughout the year. Front Desk Advocate responsibilities include: - Occasional assistance with front desk coverage in-office. - Time commitment: a couple of time per month during office hours.
Provides many animal services to the county. Animal Control involves the humane capture of loose animals and enforcement of state and county laws pertaining to animals. Provides a safe haven for those animals who no longer have homes such as those that are strays, runaways, and those seized due to inhumane treatment or cruelty investigations. Provides the necessary veterinary treatments and social interactions to get them on their way to getting a new owner.

Hospice Care offered through Gundersen Palmer Lutheran provides trained volunteers, as well as, counseling, 24 hour on call nursing, social services, chaplains, and personal care professionals to help provide care for a terminally ill person in their home during the last 6 months of the patient's life. Coordination of needed home health care services including: pharmacy, dietary, physical, respiratory, speech, and occupational therapies, and the needed home medical equipment. Inpatient hospice care available at several area nursing homes and hospitals.
