Opportunities include, 24/7 Crisis Hotline Advocate, Events and Special Projects Advocate, and Front Desk Advocate. 24/7 Crisis Hotline Advocate responsibilities include: - Answering crisis calls. - Provides support, information, referrals, and empathy on calls. - Provides medical advocacy at the local hospitals. - Time commitment: 16 or 24-hour shifts (advocates typically serve 1-2 shifts a month). Events and Special Projects Advocate: - Assisting at agency events responsibilities include: - Booths at fairs. - Prep work for events. - Participating in committees and task forces. - In-office tasks. - Time commitment: periodically throughout the year. Front Desk Advocate responsibilities include: - Occasional assistance with front desk coverage in-office. - Time commitment: a couple of time per month during office hours.
Provides many animal services to the county. Animal Control involves the humane capture of loose animals and enforcement of state and county laws pertaining to animals. Provides a safe haven for those animals who no longer have homes such as those that are strays, runaways, and those seized due to inhumane treatment or cruelty investigations. Provides the necessary veterinary treatments and social interactions to get them on their way to getting a new owner.

Opportunities to volunteer exist is our 4-H, Money Mentors, Master Gardner, and Master Naturalist Pro areas. Has ongoing need for community members, post-high school students, and local civic, cultural, or educational organizations to assist with homework, tutoring, or delivering programs for the Unity Community Center.
The Four PAWS Thrift Store sells gently used merchandise to benefit the animals in the care of the Humane Society of Danville. Four Paws is 100% staffed by volunteers. Depending on what is donated, the thrift shop sells clothing, shoes, housewares, and more.
Delivers programing for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, bringing productive, life-enhancing activities close to home.

Purpose: To meet the needs of an ethnically and culturally diverse population by providing guidance and support for persons with dementia and their caregivers; educating and informing the community; advocating for improved public policy and promoting needed legislation; supporting research in to the cause, prevention, treatment, and cure for Alzheimer's Disease and related disorders. Opportunities: Volunteers needed to work on special fundraising projects throughout the year. Also to represent the chapter at health fairs, as advocates, and as support group leaders.

Also provides heated facilities during extreme cold weather and air conditioned facilities during extreme hot weather. This space is available to those who are homeless, people new in town, and for anyone in need.

Plans, prepares, and responds to public health emergencies that may affect and could harm the community. Examples of such public health emergencies include pandemic flue, food-based diseases, natural disasters, hazardous releases, and terrorism. Before, during, and after major disasters, the Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department (FWBCHD) works in a variety of wars, in a coordinated response, to protect residents.
RSVP members can volunteer up to 40 hours per week at many local, public, and non-profit organizations such as: - Schools. - Food pantries. - Libraries. - Hospitals. Membership benefits include (but are not limited to): - Mileage reimbursement. - Supplemental auto insurance. - Volunteer recognition events.

Call for information about volunteering to help locate, humanely trap, and track feral cats with the purpose of getting them spayed/neutered to lower the number of free-roaming cats. Other volunteer opportunities include: - Volunteer to care for a feral cat colony. - Donate supplies. - Fundraising and helping at fundraising events. - Adopt-a-colony. - Volunteer to help with cats returning from spay/neuter clinic by unloading and washing traps.

Attending an MS Self-Help Group makes it much easier to connect with others facing similar challenges related to MS, make new friends, and build personal networks of support, and find information about MS-related resources available in the community.
