Intermediate program which takes a firm, zero-tolerance stance against drugs and violence. Students receive discounts at businesses and admission into special events and retreats for making a commitment to be alcohol, tobacco, other drug, and violence free. Weekly meetings are held at numerous local junior high schools.

Offers a variety of additional substance abuse prevention services free to Scott County residents, including curriculum in the schools, drug-free workplace training, Esteem Team groups, etc.

Responds to public information needs or issues related to health and safety. Works collaboratively with other community entities to formulate responses to issues impacting public health.

Major program areas include:

- CHRONIC DISEASE PREVENTION PROGRAM: Promotes activities that encourage healthy living, embrace health screenings for early detection of disease, and encourage self-management of existing diseases. Works to reduce chronic diseases among racial/ethnic minorities and other vulnerable residents. Activities include community education on topics like reducing childhood obesity, increasing physical activity and healthy eating habits, diabetes prevention or control, learning to manage chronic health problems, and colorectal cancer awareness.

- INJURY PREVENTION and SAFE KIDS: Coordinates activities directed at reducing unintentional injuries and death. Print material, videos, and presentations are available on bike and pedestrian safety, fall prevention, child passenger safety/occupant restraints, and home safety. - TOBACCO PREVENTION AND CONTROL: Provides tobacco prevention information/education to schools, businesses and the community, and cessation referrals.

-- Tobacco Initiatives: Provides a Youth Tobacco Prevention, Smoke-Free Illinois Act Enforcement, and Tobacco Prevention Coalition programs. Also provides information regarding the health effects of e-cigarettes

-- Community Health Resources: Provides the Germ Busters, Worksite Wellness, Physical Activity and Active Transportation, and Period Product Drive programs. Also provides information regarding statistics and policies related to chronic diseases and obesity
