Provides referrals to local tobacco quit assistance services. Clients enrolled in the program are eligible for free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (patches, gum, or lozenges) Also offers tobacco education and prevention for community organizations, schools, businesses, and individuals to: - Discourage the initiation of tobacco use - Assist tobacco users who want to quit - Help understand tobacco free ordinances and policies - Brochures, fact sheets, and posters
Provides education to help prevent and reduce tobacco use, enforces the Smoke Free Illinois Act and works to develop policies to reduce tobacco use.
Addresses the needs of youth at risk of using alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs of abuse. Program is provided in partnership with Rock Island/Milan School District #41 and the Rock Island community.

Tobacco Use Education/Prevention

Provides a variety of education programs to better the health of the community. Many of these programs are funded through grants, and are offered at little or no cost to the residents.

Programs include:

-- Sexual Health Education: Provides Making Proud Choices! (CUPHD's age-appropriate, comprehensive sex education programming) and sexual health resources

-- Tobacco Initiatives: Provides a Youth Tobacco Prevention, Smoke-Free Illinois Act Enforcement, and Tobacco Prevention Coalition programs. Also provides information regarding the health effects of e-cigarettes

-- Community Health Resources: Provides the Germ Busters, Worksite Wellness, Physical Activity and Active Transportation, and Period Product Drive programs. Also provides information regarding statistics and policies related to chronic diseases and obesity

-- Adolescent Health Services: Provides the Adolescent Health Program, resources and support groups for affordable substance abuse treatment services, resources for affordable mental and behavioral health care

Provides a variety of health presentations that are available upon request. The following topics can be modified to target different audiences. Presentations commonly requested are, tobacco prevention (ITFC), HIV/AIDS, STD's (Sexually Transmitted Diseases), nutrition, handwashing, Fight Bac", "Neato Mosquito", and summer safety.

Health Promotion Services Division - Tobacco Prevention Initiative: A comprehensive tobacco prevention initiative including a variety of programs for different populations and the community as a whole. The Health Department also collaborates with other agencies and organizations in Madison County for this initiative.

The Health Education section offers a wide variety of presentations for classrooms, parent groups, and community groups. To schedule a program, call and ask to speak with someone in Health Education. Programs include, opioid education and Naloxone distribution, sexual health education, STDs Education for Teens, Face the Future, body image and eating disorders, hand washing and hygiene, hand washing/hygiene/food safety, skin cancer prevention, oral health, smokeless tobacco education program, and smoke Free, That's Me.

Opioid Antidote Distribution
Health Education focused toward creating anti-smoking, anti-tobacco policy. Health Educator also works with high school students interested in policy change with regard to tobacco. Health Educator attends health fairs, community events and meetings to promote all health department programs and initiatives.

Hanover Township Youth and Family Services provides specialized programs focused on supporting children, adolescents, and young adults in making healthy decisions that positively impact themselves, their families, and the Hanover Township community. Key services include mental health counseling for children, adolescents, young adults, and families, along with an Open Gym after-school program, tutoring, and prevention education, all aimed at fostering emotional well-being and personal growth.
