Provides one book per month to eligible children.

Provides all children between the ages of 0 to 5 to receive a high-quality, age-appropriate book to all registered children, addressed to them, at no cost to the child's family.

Imagination Library is a preschool based program where children (birth to 5 years) can receive a new book in the mail every month until age 5 to enhance their reading skills.

Offers the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, which is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting books free of charge to children from birth to age five, through funding shared by Dolly Parton and United Way of Mahaska County. Go to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library website to apply or call United Way of Mahaska County to start receiving free books.

Free service offered to all enrolled children ages 0-5 of the Iowa Tribe living in the service area. Once enrolled, your child will receive a free book monthly.

Sponsors three book boxes around the community to help promote literacy. Individuals may take a book or leave a book; when done, books may be returned to any Little Library or passed onto a friend.

- Reading for Life: Provides literacy workshops and distributes reading materials. Partners with Silver Cross to provide reading rooms and lending libraries. Materials focus on early childhood literacy, but options exist for all ages. - Writing Lab: Lab for improving computer literacy as well as essay and general writing skills. - Workshops: Community workshops for things like leadership development, financial literacy, and health/wellness.

A volunteer working group of the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center that collects books from the community to provide them to people incarcerated in Illinois at no cost to them, by mail, and in Champaign county jail and Juvenile Detention Center. Volunteers primarily interact with prisoners by reading their letters, selecting books from a collection of donated materials, and shipping those books directly to them in response to their requests, or by entering the county jail once a week to provide books and library services.
