The office of Emergency Management Services is responsible for the development of the county-wide emergency operations plan, coordination of emergency planning activities and providing technical assistance to political subdivisions throughout the county. In the event of an emergency or disaster, the coordinator provides assistance to the governing offices of the municipalities of the county and the county officials. Emergency Preparedness and Response Training
Helps those who have experienced loss due to fires, tornadoes, earthquakes, homelessness, and other disasters, both natural and personal, that are beyond one's control. The program hopes to bridge the gap between the disaster and the government's help (such as FEMA, Red Cross, etc.). Representatives of the agency attend churches, senior centers, and other venues to educate the public about the different types of natural disasters that can occur in the region and how to prepare for these disasters.

General emergency preparedness training for residents provided by the village.
The Emergency Management Coordinator is responsible for the development of the county wide emergency operations plan, coordination of emergency planning activities and providing technical assistance to political subdivisions throughout the county; when or if an emergency or disaster would occur, the Emergency Management Coordinator provides assistance to the governing offices of the municipalities of the county and the county officials; Emergency Management is responsible for action on disasters, hazardous materials incidents, and is the Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management liaison during times of emergencies.
