The Chicago Lighthouse helps clients who are blind or partially sighted develop skills and techniques for safe, effective, and efficient travel. Specialists work one-on-one with clients to make sense of their surroundings by enhancing environmental, bodily and spatial awareness. Clients also learn techniques to utilize remaining vision in conjunction with auditory, olfactory, and kinesthetic senses to experience the world more in a more meaningful way.

The Chicago Lighthouse's Seniors Program offers complimentary weekly programming for older adults ages 55 and up who are facing vision loss. They develop meaningful and relevant programs based on the needs and interests of participants. Their programs are designed to enhance independence, develop critical skills, and foster a sense of community for seniors who are blind or visually impaired. This program is functioning via telephone programming as well as some in-person programming.

The Chicago Lighthouse's Lader Family Scholarship Program is open to residents of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin who are blind or partially sighted as well as Chicago Lighthouse employees who are blind, partially sighted, have another disability, or are Veterans. Scholarship funds are to be used to defray the costs of tuition, books, assistive technology, or other educational expenses for students enrolled in post-secondary programs, including accredited certifications and Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees.
The Chicago Lighthouse offers a multidisciplinary approach to vision care that integrates specialized care centers and complementary services. Their care centers feature optometric services, psychological support, and assistive technology, with additional services ranging from occupational therapy to clinical research. Their process supports cooperation across disciplines in the assessment and treatment of their patients.
