Offers assistance to Medicare beneficiaries for filing appeals regarding the end of Medicare services.

If Medicare services are ending too soon, an appeal can be filed by calling Livanta’s HelpLine. Once Livanta receives the phone call about the appeal, they will call the patients’ health care provider to request their medical records. Once that is received, the Livanta physician reviewer will review the record and will decide whether the patient is healthy enough to be discharged. After the review is complete, the patient will receive a phone call and a letter from Livanta with the decision.

Assists low-income homeowners and renters pay for a portion of their primary heating costs for the winter heating season. Assistance is based on household income, size, type of fuel and type of housing. Application period is from October 1-August 31 for elderly and disabled households and November 1-August 31 for the rest of the households. Persons applying must meet 200% poverty guidelines.

LIHEAP also offers a crisis program that may be able to assist homeowners who are with no heat or limited heat. The furnace component for crisis runs October 1-April 30th.
