Expedited/Emergency SNAP Benefits may be available (in 5 days or less from the date of application) to eligible clients if:

- Monthly income, cash, and bank accounts are less than client's rent or mortgage plus utility costs, OR

- Monthly income is less than $150 and client's cash and bank accounts are not more than $100, OR

- At least one person in the household is a migrant farm worker and client's cash and bank accounts are not more than $100.

Assists property homeowners, who need a small home repair completed in their home in McHenry County. Senior Services maintains a pool of volunteers and service organizations that are able to help with small handyman tasks and yard maintenance.

Staff can also provide a list to connect seniors to preferred professional service providers and individuals for private pay who have consented to a background and reference screening process. This list is a reliable substitute to choosing an unknown service provider from the phone book. Preferred providers are available to perform general home repairs and odd jobs, plumbing, window washing, waste removal, lawn maintenance, snow removal, etc. Based on availability, financial assistance may be an option for seniors who qualify."

Provides the following services

- Free on-site pregnancy testing.

• On-site limited obstetrical ultrasound services.
• STI/ STD testing.
• Parenting education (HOPE program).
• Support to pregnant woman whose unborn baby has been diagnosed with an adverse or terminal condition and wish to carry to term (Willow Story program).

Advises and aids veterans and their dependents in applying for federal benefits through compensation or pension claims. Emergency financial assistance for basic necessities such as rent or mortgage payments, utilities, transportation assistance (bus tokens) and food may be available. Can also assists with applications for benefits made available by federal, state or local laws.

Offers dental services for children covered by the All Kids Program. Services include:

Provides a computer lab to the public. The lab offers basic computer access for children and adults. Lab monitors available for assistance and instruction.

Offers individual, couples, and family counseling, medication management, Substance use disorders, and domestic violence education.

Offers a program designed to help overcome the fear of falling, set goals, and promote exercise.

Provides Medicaid and Medicare-certified low cost clinics offering "one stop shop" for general health care needs.

Sexual Assault & Family Emergencies (SAFE) is a sexual assault and rape crisis center. Services include:

• 24-hour hotline
• Medical/legal advocacy
• Short and long term individual counseling and group therapy
• Educational programs for schools and the community on awareness, body safety, bullying, dating violence, and internet safety

Provides immediate, walk-in care for minor injuries and non-emergency illnesses that are not life-threatening but need early attention. Common conditions include sore throat, pink eye, flu, sprains, and strains.

Provides food items to the community throughout the year and welcomes donated items. 

Offers a 24-hour hotline for survivors of sexual assault. Crisis counseling services, information & referral, and support can be accessed through calling the hotline.

Provides vocational training and employment opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities or other applicable handicaps to employment.

Program assists with, evaluation or assessment of vocational skills. Work adjustment training, development and improvement of work skills, habits, and attitudes. Work services: Continued training and counseling for trainees who have completed initial training but not reach levels suitable for community employment. 

Placement Services Provides experience, education, and placement assistance in community jobs and follow-up services.

Provides sexual assault prevention programs for school settings for youth and general community education for both youth and adults.

Offers assistance to unhoused and underprepared job seekers with a path to secure housing and gainful employment. Job readiness services include education and skills assessment, soft skills training, computer literacy, adult literacy courses and tutoring, money management, GED preparation, and interview training from a holistic perspective.

Provides the police department that is responsible for emergency assessment and response.

Crisis intervention for run-away, locked-out, homeless, and ungovernable youth. Ensures youth get emergency psychiatric or substance abuse treatment if needed, follow-up care plan for youths reunited with family, and short-term or long-term placements if reunification is not immediately possible.
