One Million Degrees - Harold Washington accelerates community college students' progress on career pathways to economic mobility. OMD provides comprehensive supports to community college students, including tutoring, volunteer coaching, financial assistance and professional development. OMD Scholars have access to an on-site OMD staff member who are there to coach and assist scholars as they pursue their college degree, participate in monthly Saturday Scholar Development workshops, are matched with volunteers who coach them on their career plan, are provided private tutors (available to scholars struggling academically), and are eligible to up to $1,000 in performance-based stipends and $250 in additional grants. OMD Scholars graduate at twice the state average with the skills and experiences necessary to launch upwardly mobile professional careers.
