Outreach Counselors work to connect seniors and disabled individuals, with emphasis on those with lower incomes, with those programs that will help them to remain independent. SNAP, LIHEAP, and other state and federal programs, Assistance with hearing, A small reserve of funds for occasional GAP funding for emergency needs.

Carpenter's Place has a wide range of volunteer opportunities; some have interaction with homeless guests, others do not. Opportunities may include providing mentoring, transportation, and life skills training for the residents in the Permanent Supportive Housing program or providing mentoring, tutoring, life skills training, transportation, mock interviews, etc. for Transitional Housing residents.

Independent organization within the IRS.  Helps taxpayers whose problems with the IRS are causing financial difficulties, such as not being able to provide necessities like housing, transportation, or food; taxpayers who are seeking help in resolving problems with the IRS; and those who believe an IRS system or procedure is not working as it should.

If a client qualifies for help, advocates work with the IRS to resolve issues.

Provides assistance for individuals with developmental disabilities. Services offer help with decision making, managing health issues, and supporting healthy living. Activities include educational instruction, daily living skills practice, and vocational support. Vocational training supports developing job skills, positive work habits, and allows access to work in a supervised environment. 

Police and dispatch services responsible for emergency assessment and response.

Offers supportive counseling, guidance, and connections to resources. If considering adoption, can also assist in finding the right family for the baby.

Partners with the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice to create and facilitate the Daily Reporting Center for Boys and Girls. This program is designed to develop a comprehensive approach as the youth returns home from the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice.

Provides a senior center with many activities and assistance for older adults. Services include help with applications (for example, for Disability, SNAP, and automobile license sticker renewal), Medicare information, card clubs, coffee groups, and dances.

Serving individuals with disabilities who are unable to successfully participate in regular recreation programs.

All colleges within the IECC district provide tuition-free classes and serve as official testing sites for students seeking a high school equivalency certificate, including the GED. 

Programs administer the required examinations in math, reading, writing, science, and social studies, as well as the Constitution exam. Classes are available in 8- or 16-week formats with day and evening scheduling options to prepare adults and eligible minors to obtain their high school equivalency credentials.

Offers child care designed to meet the unique needs of military members, such as care provided during non-traditional hours or over the weekends. Various programs are available, such as on-installation child development and school-age centers as well as family child care in-home settings. Also helps with finding child care options.

Offers fee assistance to make community-based care more affordable for families. The Department of Defense establishes annual fee guidelines, so a family’s cost is based on their Total Family Income.
