Chicago Torture Justice Center (CTJC) confronts the isolation inherent in navigating the criminal legal system by organizing supporters to show up in solidarity at survivors' court dates. In doing so, they hold survivors and their family members in the community as their experiences evolve and take shape within the constructs of an oppressive criminal legal system. They strategize with survivors and advocates to guide the ongoing work of their movement for justice.

Life Span's domestic violence legal program is staffed by 15 attorneys, four paralegals, and four criminal court advocates who have expertise and years of experience in contested family law cases and criminal court advocacy. Chicago Survivors provides support for family members of victims of homicide through crisis response, case management, counseling, family support, and accompaniment. Family members may be accompanied by a liaison in hospital or medical examiners' office settings. Services are survivor-shaped, trauma-informed, family-centered, and delivered primarily in survivors' homes.

Crisis Center of South Suburbia court advocates inform victims of domestic or dating violence of their rights under the Illinois Domestic Violence Act, serve as a liaison in the judicial system, prepare orders of protection, and provide follow-up services to review safety plans and court cases. Informational materials about other legal remedies and victim resources such as Crime Victims' Compensation, Victims' Economic Security and Safety Act, Safe Homes Act and Automated Victim Notification are also provided.
