The Adult Head Injury Program provides assistance to Missouri residents who have sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Through a contract with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and Bureau of Special Health Care Needs, the Cole County Health Department can assist individuals with TBI's and their families with locating, coordinating and purchasing rehabilitation and psychological services.

Offers a continuum of care in nearly 30 community-based settings throughout Carbondale including single-family homes, supported apartments, day treatment centers & workshops, schools, and more. In Illinois, other rehabilitation services are available in Bloomington, DesPlaines, Mt. Prospect, and Palatine. Brain Injury Rehabilitation
Spinal Cord Rehabilitation
Provides treatment for veterans and first responders who have acquired a mild-to-moderate traumatic brain injury. Addresses comorbid physical and mental health issues for those accepted into the program.
Medical College of Wisconsin's (MCW) BRAVE Program is a unique intensive outpatient program that provides treatment for Veterans (regardless of discharge status or Veteran status) and First Responders (past or present) who have acquired a traumatic brain injury (at any point in their life & it does not have to be medically diagnosed/reported). The program also addresses comorbid physical and mental health issues. Their care team is comprised of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Psychotherapy to address mental and behavioral health. Physical Therapy addresses vestibular, balance, TMJ/TMD, and musculoskeletal pain and concerns. Speech-Language Pathology assesses cognition (i.e., memory, thinking, attention, planning) and language. They also offer social work, case management, peer support, and care coordination to adequately address all aspects of the Veteran or First Responder's concerns while offering them a unique and holistic approach to TBI treatment. There is little to no cost for the program, and they are able to assist with barriers to care (i.e., the cost of care, food, travel, and lodging while the participants are with them).
