Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) administers the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program which provides temporary financial assistance for pregnant women and families with one or more dependent children. TANF provides financial assistance to help pay for food, shelter, utilities, and expenses other than medical.
Rich Township General Assistance Program provides a monetary award to Rich Township residents of at least 18 years old who are unemployed or disabled, and who are not receiving any other form of income. College students are encouraged to apply. The recipient's income must not exceed $600 per month to be eligible. Those who receive the stipend must provide community service and/or pursue education and employment as directed by the office unless exempt due to a disability or medical issue.The Rich Township General Assistance Program provides Township residents aged 18-62 with financial assistance in the form of a monthly $475 stipend for utilities, shelter, and food. The General Assistance Department also is able to help with Social Security disability and TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) benefits for residents who are 18 years or older heading an independent household.
