Emergency Assistance does not cover security deposits or first-month rent except in individual or family displacement due to disaster. Wheeling Township Emergency Assistance (EA) is available to qualified individuals and families facing emergencies that are work related or life threatening (i.e. eviction, utility disconnection, and transportation). Those interested can apply at the Township's General Assistance Office. Applicants must be residents of Wheeling Township, United States Citizens or qualified immigrants and meet financial and non-financial eligibility requirements. Families and individuals receiving TANF or SSI are ineligible for Emergency Assistance.

Emergency Assistance - Orland Township - Main Office

Emergency Assistance, available once within a 24-month period, alleviates a life-threatening circumstance or covers a work-related expense necessary to obtain or maintain employment. This provides one-time financial support through a documented crisis circumstance (such as eviction or utility disconnection) who meet the requirements. Applicants must meet income guidelines, provide proof of residency, and furnish application and documentation to support the need for Emergency Assistance. The emergency must be alleviated, and the resident must be able to show their income allows them to sustain moving forward. Applicants must be a resident of Orland Township, a United States citizen, or a qualified immigrant, and must meet all state-administered eligibility requirements.

Human Services - Hanover Township - Astor Avenue Community Center

Hanover Township's Department of Human Services offers programs and services to improve the quality of life of Hanover Township residents experiencing hardships. The department's primary function is to provide financial assistance to qualifying residents through General and Emergency Assistance. The Human Services Department also oversees the Township's Food Pantry, which is available to the Township residents six days per week. Department staff are also Accredited Veterans Service Officers who are able to assist Township Veterans and their families in applying for qualifying benefits from state and federal agencies. Employment Services, such as offering assistance for interview skills, resume writing, and job searches, are also available through the department.

Assistance is provided regardless of immigration or criminal conviction status to the extent allowed by law.
