The People's Music School provides tuition-free music education to school-aged children in Chicago who would otherwise not be able to afford it. Based on a student's age, they offer classes in general music, instrumental studies, music theory, and a variety of ensembles. Programs run after school Monday through Friday and on the weekend. City of Palos Heights Parks & Recreation offers a variety of instructional opportunities for local youth to learn a musical instrument such as guitar, piano, violin, and viola or to develop skills performing with a music theater company.

A Touch of Classical Plus introduces music education by motivating students to discover their hidden abilities while developing confidence. This service offers the study of violin, viola, and cello. Piano and early childhood music instruction are also provided. Students engage in both private lessons and groupclasses.

Elk Grove Park District's Art Center offers classes in performing, visual, and applied arts for all ages. Diverse programming ensures something for everyone from ages 6 to 90 and covers activities from pottery to oil painting, theatre, and music in dedicated rooms for art and soundproof music classes designed for an optimal learning environment.

Participants will be placed into a band consisting of four-five musicians to learn how to participate in a rock band. Each band will perform music based on their likes. At the end of the program, participants will perform as a band at an actual performance venue.

Participants will learn simple songs, dance moves, playing musical games, and becoming part of a larger group.

GR!LIVE - This series demonstrates our continued effort to recover marginalized narratives of women in music, reclaim herstories, and recapitulate music genres for a new generation's liberation of expression; this consists of a concert by local artists, herstory of trailblazing, women musicians, and a "how-to" play a specific style of music, taught by showcased artists.

Silver Chords Leadership Program - A mentorship program for high school students to earn Silver Cord hours, and rockers the opportunity to learn an instrument, form a band, write a song, and perform at a venue. We will extend our afterschool program, with this grant.

GR!T Studio - professional-grade recording studio utilized to teach audio engineering and build the less than 5% representation of women, nonbinary, & trans folx in media production fields. We've been recording our own albums, in-house, since 2019. We are interested in developing & recording emerging artists, and bringing seasoned musicians to the mentorship table with this programming.

Contracts with local professional artists to provide experiential arts workshops and residencies to under-served populations. These populations include: individuals with disabilities, low income seniors, at risk families and youth, individuals experiencing mental or medical situations, and often the general public through community events.

Artists are paid for these workshops which assists the artist in pursuing his/her career as an artist.

Offers a chance for students, ages 6-17, to learn more about music, ballet and archery.

VanderCook College of Music offers free music lessons, rehearsals and instruments to students from local elementary schools and neighborhoods. Students in grades 5 - 8 can join One City Jazz, which pays tribute to Chicago's jazz roots by offering saxophone, trumpet, trombone, percussion (drums), bass and piano. Students in grades Kindergarten - 5 can join One City Strings, where they will learn to play the violin using the Suzuki method, which focuses on parent involvement in the child's learning. One City runs for 10-15 weeks each fall and spring. Any student who completes the program through 8th grade will keep and own the instrument to play in high school and beyond.
